The past few months have brought devastating typhoons, flooding, earthquakes, and a tsunami to many parts of Asia. Thousands have lost their lives and millions are homeless. Although we have already asked for donations to help victims in Taiwan, we will be collecting donations through Sunday Oct 25 to support relief efforts in the Philippines, Indonesia, and other parts of Asia.

These funds will be divided between two outstanding Christian ministries which are both responding with food, shelter, and other tangible expressions of God's love in addition to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. These two ministries are Samaritan's Purse (Franklin Graham is the president, their annual Operation Christmas Child delivered shoe boxes filled with gifts to 8 million children worldwide last year - http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/Who_We_Are/About_Us) and Gospel for Asia (this ministry has started over 50 Bible colleges in India training over 9,000 to plant churches in their nation, http://www.gfa.org/about/).

If you would like to give a gift toward this urgent need, please write your check to CCC and earmark for "Asia relief." Drop into the offering bag during the worship service, hand to any Consistory member, or mail to the church (5600 Gilgunn Way, Sacramento 95822).

Lets remember to pray for all the relief efforts to help the millions who have been devastated in recent months. May our Christian faith live itself out by responding in any way we can. "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (James 1:27)
