Jan 23

As a new year unfolds, it would seem appropriate to venture into new horizons; at least, that has been my goal each January 1st as I make my new year’s resolutions. So what is the first thing that comes to mind? What is one of the things that have been a burden on my heart? Let me first share a brief background. We currently do not have a gathering for the college and career age at our church. This is a bit disheartening because graduating high school seniors and visitors in these age categories sort of slip in and out of our doors. So I’ve felt God’s calling to start a college and career fellowship ministry.

In September 2008, with the blessings of the Consistory and then pastor, the College and Career Fellowship group was launched. But with few in this age group attending CCC, it’s not surprising that although the seed has been planted, much nurturing and attention is stilled required for this seed to germinate. So my new year’s resolution for 2009 is this . . . starting this blog on the college and career Web site. It appears blogging is what people are doing these days, right? So while I’m waiting until that time when we actually have more people walking through the door (note: you don’t need to attend CCC to come to the fellowship group), I pray that this mode of communication will serve as an encouragement and a help to the college and career young adults, and anyone else who finds this site interesting and useful.

For the month of January, I’d like to share a thought that has been on my mind. And that is, letting go of things in our lives where it appears evident that God is closing the door to. Because by doing so, it frees up our hearts to receive something new, maybe even something better. All we need to do is have faith and trust in God that He will open doors and provide for us a better choice, a better life. “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalms 37:4)

I hope your new year, aka, new beginnings, are ones filled with new hope and adventures. I will be entering new blogs on a monthly basis. Love to hear from you. In the mean time, I’ll leave you with my favorite verse that I’ve held in my heart ever since I received the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior, way back in junior high school. It’s found in the bible, in Proverbs, chapter 3, verses 5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” (kjv)

Happy New (beginnings) Year!

Hi All,
This certainly resonates with me. Thanks for reminding us to "let go and let God."
If you are interested in helping to shape this new ministry, please put March 22nd on your calendar. After church March 22nd, all interested folks are invited to join in a time of discussion and sharing of ideas.

Thank you for the inspiring words Landa. Your fellowship group is in my prayers. And welcome to the CCC online community!
