How did God speak to you through Pastor Louis 7/11/10 message entitled, Taking Care Of God’s Temple?

*Taking Care Of God’s Temple!* (7/11/10) "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. (19) Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; (20) you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." (1 Corinthians 6:18-20) I. We should care for our bodies because they are the _______________ of the Holy Spirit. A. We must not misuse our bodies for sexual sin. B. We should not ___________________ our bodies/physical fitness. C. We should seek balance in caring for our physical and spiritual health (1 Tim. 4:8). II. Evaluate our _________________ regarding school, work, relationships, etc. III. Short and long term ______________________ from better health/fitness. A. Less sickness, more energy B. Longer life, greater ministry at older age (wisdom, experience, etc) IV. _____________________ - General lifestyle choices (choose stairs vs escalator, park further, etc.) - Specific times of exercise (multi-task? LL reads Scripture/walks with wife)

(Psalm 100:3) ¹⁸For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, ¹⁹but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1:18-19) I have been thinking about Pastor Louis' message from last week. His Spirit has convicted me that I need to take better care of God's temple. In other words, I need to take better care of myself and get exercising. I routinely encourage my patients to eat a healthy diet and engage in regular exercise, but I do not take the time to do it myself. I am concientiously eating less than I used to because I know my activity level has gone down. I now want to work on the second part...getting more exercise. Today I took some baby steps and swam. With God's help, I'll be able to incorporate more regular times for exercise. Next time you see me, ask me how I'm doing. Please hold me accountable to taking better care of God's temple. Many thanks.
