How did God speak to you through Pastor Louis' 9/12/2010 message entitled, "Equipped for Every Good Work!"?

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”    (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
 
 
 I.      The Word of God brings _________________ to all who practice what it says.
 
"Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord.”  (Psalm 119:1) 
  
 
 
II.         The Word of God provides ______________ to guide our steps.
 
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”      (Psalm 119:105)
  
 
 
 
III.       The Word of God must  be ______________ all the time.
 
“Oh, how I love your law!  I meditate on it all day long.”   (Psalm 119:97)

“18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.” (Revelation 22:18-19)
 
 I.      The Word of God brings BLESSINGS to all who practice what it says.

“10 For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the LORD, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.”  (Ezra 7:10)
 
 
II.         The Word of God provides LIGHT to guide our steps.
 
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”      (Psalm 119:105)
  
 
III.       The Word of God must be CHERISHED all the time.
 
“Oh, how I love your law!  I meditate on it all day long.”   (Psalm 119:97)
 
“15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:15-17)

Pastor Louis talked about being equipped for every good work requires having all kinds of tools at our disposal.  He stressed the importance of having all the right tools for the right job and if we don't have the right tool, we may not be able to complete the job.

This illustration resonated with me as my family and I just moved to our new house.  During the move, the movers discovered they did not have the right tool to disassemble a desk.  Fortunately, in my limited tool box, I happened to have just the right tool.  How fortunate is that?!  I had the opposite experience, being without the right tool, as well.  I was putting together something I had bought from Ikea.  Usually items come with the appropriate tool to put it together, but this time it didn't.  The proper assembly required a small screw driver.  I pulled out my tool box and found a couple screw drivers, but they were all too big.  I was forced to improvise, using a knife.  It worked enough to put it together, but it was not tightened as much as I would have liked.  In addition, I also bent the end of the knife. 

So how can we build up our tool boxes so we can become spiritually equipped for every good work?  Pastor Louis reminded us of the importance of spending daily time in His Word.  He shared he has read through the Bible 30-40 times and still learns things and discovers lessons he had not picked up before.  He also stressed the need for Study not only for head knowledge, but the Application of these lessons and the Teaching others....SAT! (Ezra 7:10)  I look forward to adding to my spiritual tool box daily so I can be ready for the next important job.  How about you?
