*The Power of Diversity Within Unity!* *Part 2* (1/17/10) I. There is diversity in unity within the Body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:12-13). *What is unity? Not ___________________!* Mutual respect, interdependence. We all have blind spots. But diff “body parts” can help one another see their own blind spots. II. Deal with prejudice as a s______(Rom. 15:7; James 2:1). A. We all need to c_________________ our sin of prejudice (James 5:16). B. We all need to f______________ those who sin against us (Eph. 4:32). There is diversity in unity within the Body of Christ 12The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. (1 Cor. 12:12-13) What is unity? Not CONFORMITY! Mutual respect, interdependence. We all have blind spots. But diff “body parts” can help one another see their own blind spots. II. Deal with prejudice as a SIN 7Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Rom. 15:7) 1My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism. (James 2:1) A. We all need to CONFESS our sin of prejudice 16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16) B. We all need to FORGIVE those who sin against us. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Eph. 4:32) C. Accept one another as God accepts us in Christ. 7Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. (Ephesians 4:1-2) V. One PRODUCT of unity. 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (Jn. 17:23)
