Why Go To Church?
(2/21/10)

I. To grow in our _______________ relationship with God.

A. God initiates our love relationship with Him
(1 John 4:19; Romans 5:8).

B. We respond to God's love in worship and praise (Psalm 100:4-5).

C. God's love and grace motivates us to honor and obey Him (Titus 2:11-14).

II. To grow in my love relationship with other ____________________.

A. We need to meet together for mutual ______________________.

“24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

B. We need to share God's _______________ with one another (2 Cor. 1:3-4).

III. To grow in my sharing of God's love to the _________________.

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." (Galatians 6:10)

I. To grow in our LOVE relationship with God.

A. God initiates our love relationship with Him.

19 We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19)

8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

B. We respond to God's love in worship and praise.

4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.

5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations. (Psalm 100:4-5)

C. God's love and grace motivates us to honor and obey Him

11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. (Titus 2:11-14)

II. To grow in my love relationship with other CHRISTIANS.

A. We need to meet together for mutual ENCOURAGEMENT.

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

B. We need to share God's COMFORT with one another

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. (2 Cor. 1:3-4)

III. To grow in my sharing of God's love to the WORLD.

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:10)
