Announcements - april 29, 2025

1. This Sunday, Pastor Mark preaches "The art of unwinding" with Psalm 23 as Scripture reading. Communion served.

2. Last Wednesday we sent out an advisory informing that our friend Morris Lee of Learning Tree reported that when he arrived in the early morning, he found the door fronting the church office to be unlocked. He noted that there have been multiple alarms going off in the evenings. Furthermore, Morris reported that last Friday night, he found that same door was unlocked (again) and the lights in the riser room in the gym were left on.

In a separate incident this morning (4/29, Tuesday), the fire alarm was going off -- and thank God not due to a fire emergency! -- but perhaps that last night or overnight something or someone might have inadvertently set it off. Note that if/when the fire department is dispatched by our alarm company only to find it was a false alarm, the church could be meted out false alarm penalty fines. Same thing with false break-in alarms that notify the police.

An important, friendly reminder: Please be mindful and extra diligent to check that all doors on our church premises are completely locked before leaving. And please make sure to be careful not to accidentally trip any of our fire and security alarms in our riser room and wall digital panels., and anywhere else on our property where they could be set off. Thank you, sisters and brothers, for your efforts in helping us keep our dear church safe and secure.

3. We are pleased to have Chris Lagerlof from Slingshot Group visit with us this Sunday. Chris serves as a Senior Associate in the Senior Leadership and Nonprofit Division, and will take the time to understand the unique vision, culture, and needs of CCC to find candidates to be our next Pastor. Chris worked for 17 years as a Pastor and Champion of several ministries at Mariners Church in Irvine, California, and served as Regional Catalyst for Christ Together, and National Catalyst for Vision360.

4. Lifesong Praise Fellowship meets this Thursday, May 1st, featuring a voice coach. Join us every first and third Thursday of the month to play music and share the gospel. Singers and musicians of all levels are welcome.

5. Our last Sunday School Family Fun Day will be May 4th. Thank you for participating in this new monthly format that students, parents, and staff all enjoyed.

6. Next three-week sermon series on Psalms 23, “Knowing the Shepherd”, starts this Sunday, May 4th. Know the presence of Christ is with us as we face the stresses of life.

7. Please help canvas the CCC neighborhood to invite families to our Mother’s Day Service. If you could help drop off flyers for this outreach, please see Pastor Mark.

8. Be reminded that information and updates on our other ministries, programs, and activities are posted on our church website as well as on CCC’s Instagram and Facebook.

Prayer and Praise

Please pray for Pastor Mark and Carol on the passing of his best friend and business partner, and their brother-in-law Jim Lewis. Pray for their extended families as they gather in Porterville and Portland for connection and closure.  Pray that God will bring them comfort and encouragement; for His blessing, grace, and peace upon our Pastor.

Praise God for our senior members who continue to be a blessing to us all. Pastor Mark and Pastor Louis recently visited Gon Chan, Tuey Lowe, and Maybelle Whang and their hearts filled with gratitude and peace. Pray for their health and well-being, physical strength, and joy in their daily lives surrounded by God’s love.

Praise God for the uplifting message from Pastor Jim Jessup on lessons from Joseph’s life to walk patiently by faith and not give up on God!

This week’s Scripture –

And David said, "the Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine (the giant Goliath of Gath)". And Saul said to David, "Go, and may the Lord be with you".  – 1 Samuel 17:37, NIV

Ponder –

“Sometimes God will put a Goliath in your life, for you to find the David within you.” – Toby McKeehan
